UP NEXT, after an away defeat to Cromford & Wirksworth Town, the Lions are back at home, where they welcome league leaders, Pinxton to the Royal British Legion.

Having been well beaten the week before, RBL have it all on as they face a side who have lost just once in the league since August.

The Lions last fixture saw them travel to Cromford Meadows, where they faced Cromford & Wirksworth Town. A poor performance from the visitors, coupled with a poor pitch and a home side who were better on the day, saw RBL head home with a 2-0 defeat, leaving them in fourth spot in the league, in a chasing pack of four teams who sit some way back from the top two.

Pinxton’s last match was on Tuesday night in the Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup. An away trip to Teversal saw Pinxton win by a single goal. Sion Green making the all important breakthrough

RBL currently sit in fourth spot in the league, with games in hand on the teams above, while fifth placed Singh Brothers are a further four matches back, but on the same points as the Lions. Three points this weekend is a must, as a win for Pinxton would see them stretch their lead over the Lions to eleven points.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

The two sides last met in September this season, with Pinxton winning 1-0 through a Ben Gowing goal.

Last season’s home fixture saw RBL take all three points in a 2-0 victory, courtesy of goals from Ben Rushby and Jordy Lee in the second half.

September 2022 saw the away fixtures, where a Durry Berry red card put the dampers on an otherwise superb performance. First half goals from Lee Hillier and Dean Oliver did the damage early on in the season.
