PREVIEW | TEVERSAL (h)
LIONS AIM TO GET BACK TO WINNING WAYS AFTER A DISASTROUS MIDWEEK
UP NEXT, after a tough midweek which yielded a single point from two matches, RBL are at the legion, where they host Teversal. With five points dropped, the Lions will now have to win every game and rely on other results if they are to achieve their goal of winning the league this season.
With their seven match unbeaten run coming to an abrupt halt on Tuesday evening at the legion, an away draw on Thursday night came shortly after. However, an earlier away victory over todays’ opponents will give the lads hope of getting back on track.
Teversal come to the legion sitting fourth from bottom and having a mixed bag of results over the last few weeks, taking seven points from their last eight matches, winning twice. They will want to get some consistency for their final run of matches in the battle to stay in the division.
RBL’s last match was two days ago, as they made the short trip to second bottom, Holbrook St Michaels. With an intense rivalry between the two sides, a tough match was expected. The Lions led at half time through a Dean Oliver goal midway through the first half. The hosts then equalised minutes after the restart. Lee Hillier restored the lead less than ten minutes later, only for the Saints to equalise just after the hour mark from the penalty spot. The game ended even at 2-2, putting a serious dent in RBL’s title hopes.
Teversal’s last match was a Tuesday night trip to South Normanton, who appeared to have no shower leaks in the changing rooms for this fixture to go ahead. In what appeared to be a close match, Teversal came away with nothing other than a late red card for Jason Heppell after substitute James Whitmore bagged a consolation goal.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
The last time the two sides met was in February, where the Lions wrapped up a very straightforward 5-1 victory, with goals coming from Owen Brader, Sam Vickers, Jordan Lee and a rare goal from captain John Cullen returning from injury as a substitute, to then follow up with an assist for fellow sub, Jakub Cybulski to wrap up the win
