Mickleover RBL entered the match confident after back to back wins in the last 2 games. RBL started brightly passing it along the floor and creating space and half chances. The first chance of the game fell to Cole Hassell 6 yards out but he just failed to make contact with the ball for what would be a certain goal.
After around 20 minutes Singh Brothers came back into the game for what was now an even contest. After a couple of good corners for RBL, one landed just nicely for Ben Rushby after a goal mouth scramble just after the half an hour mark.
A clearance from RBL found it’s way over everyone towards the Singh brothers goal. A mix up in communication saw the centre back head over the goal keeper and Lee Hillier the chance to get around the keeper but the defender recovers well and does enough to prevent Hillier from getting to the ball.
RBL went into HT 1-0 up but started the second half sloppy with loose possession gifting Singh Brothers some early chances. RBL then created some great chances which should have been scored, but the Singh Brothers keeper was on excellent form and pulled off some superb saves to keep them in the game.
Singh Brothers began to gain confidence from the missed chances and big saves from their goalkeeper and pressure began to form on the RBL defence. After a few chances and close calls, the referee awarded a penalty to Singh Brothers on 82 minutes which was smashed down the middle leaving the RBL keeper with no chance of saving.
RBL, now pushing for all 3 points and not content with just 1 committed too many forward and just 4 minutes later a long ball down the middle for Singh Brothers allowed the striker to get in behind the RBL defence and finish well into the bottom right corner.
Mickleover RBL failed to create any clear cut chances in the remaining minutes and stoppage time and Singh Brothers take all 3 points. On another day RBL may have found themselves 3 or 4 goals up had there been more composure in front of goal but it wasn’t to be on this occasion.
