PREVIEW | PINXTON(a)
THE LIONS TAKE TO THE ROAD FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE SEASON OPENER
UP NEXT, after a run of seven consecutive matches at the legion, RBL travel to seventh placed Pinxton. The yellows go into a very tough match in search of a third win in a row after picking up some form. Currently sitting on top of the Central Midlands Alliance Premier Division South, RBL know that the pressure is on to get a result as the five teams below can leapfrog them if they win their games in hand.
Last weekend, the Lions overcame Cromford & Wirksworth Town with a straightforward 3-0 victory with Jordan Lee opening the scoring and Mason Booth-Davis doubling the scoreline deep into first half injury time. Booth-Davis wrapped up the points with a second goal early in the second half. Having had an indifferent start to the season, RBL have now scored nine goals in their last two matches. They would love to continue this form against a Pinxton side who sit in seventh spot, having won three and lost two of their five matches so far this season. Pinxton themselves are in a good run of form, having won their last three matches, scoring ten and keeping two clean sheets along the way.
Pinxton’s last match was a straightforward 4-0 away victory over Arnold Town at Eagle Valley. Goals from Ben Hayes, Harley Kozluk, Brad Newby and Morgan Richards wrapped up the points against an opposition who offered little resistance.
With Pinxton’s two defeats of the season so far coming at home, they will want to improve on that this weekend by continuing their current great run.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
The two sides last met in April of last season, where second half goals from Ben Rushby and Jordan Lee sent Pinxton home with a 2-0 defeat to complete a double for the season.
Earlier in the 2022-23 season, the two sides met in September, where a Durry Berry red card put the dampers on an otherwise superb performance. First half goals from Lee Hillier and Dean Oliver did the damage early on in the season.
