PREVIEW | MAYFIELD(h)
RBL BACK IN ACTION AGAINST DIVISION NEW BOYS
UP NEXT, after a tough bank holiday weekend, Mickleover RBL are again at the legion, where they host Mayfield, who finished last season as runners up in division one west last season.
With two wins and a draw so far from their first five matches and no competitive clean sheets so far this season, RBL have continued to add to the squad and go into Saturday’s match in hope of victory over a side who have lost each of their four matches at this early stage of the season.
In their last match, the Lions drew 2-2 against bogey team, Linby Colliery Welfare in what was a very tough match. Two early goals for Linby piled the pressure onto RBL, who dragged a goal back through Mason Booth-Davis to go into half time with the score at 2-1 to the visitors. A late goal from Josh Lee rescued the game for RBL to give boy teams a share of the spoils with a draw.
Mayfield come to the legion with four straight defeats in the league after their promotion into Premier Division South. Having scored five and conceded sixteen in four matches, the Premier Division is a bigger challenge for a side who lost just three times in the league last season. A fifth match on the road in a streak of seven continues their tough start to the season.
Mayfield’s last match was an away defeat at Eagle Valley to Arnold town, where they went down 3-1. A Joe Stelfox goal was not enough to give Mayfield any points as they let in three at the other end.
