PREVIEW | ARNOLD TOWN (a)
LIONS BACK IN ACTION QUICKLY AFTER THE WEEKEND AS THEY LOOK TO SHOOT DOWN THE EAGLES UNDER THE LIGHTS
This Tuesday night see’s the Lions making the trip to Arnold, where they face Arnold Town. Arnold will be looking to get back on track after getting their first win since mid November on Saturday. The Lions, having won every match so far in 2023, will be looking to continue this run of form under the floodlights.
On Saturday, RBL faced a potential banana skin in Ashland Rovers. A depleted side took a while to get going, but an equalising goal from Sam Vickers took the sides in level at half time at 1-1. A goal from Cole Hassell and a brace from Dean Oliver did the trick in the second half. The Lions took three points home with a hard fought 4-1 away win to maintain their 2023 100% record.
Arnold Town Will be looking to continue their mini revival, having beaten South Normanton on Saturday, which followed a good draw at home against Holbrook St Michaels the weekend before. Defeats to three of the top five made up the earlier three fixtures of 2023, so a positive result is a must for the Eagles tonight as they aim to climb the table.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
The two sides last met in the 2021-22 season, at the Royal British Legion as RBL ran out easy 4-0 winners. Two goals each for Lewis Durow and Owen Brader did the damage as the Lions finished the season strongly.
The last fixture at Eagle Valley was in October 2021. Another easy win for RBL saw a Sam Vickers hat trick, a brace from Lee Hillier and a Liam Oliver goal as the Lions ran away 6-1 winners
After a wet and windy week, conditions will not be great for both teams at an exposed venue. With three points a must for both sides, we can hope for an exciting encounter after a long trip to the other side of Nottingham
ONTO TODAY
With a large amount of parking space, there should be space for a good number of visitors to head along to support the team. The match kicks off at 7:45pm
See you then
