This weekend sees RBL on the road again for the seventh time in eight matches as they travel to Derby Rolls Royce to face Derby Singh Brothers. With six wins from their last six matches in all competitions, the Lions aim to keep that run of form going against one of the other form teams in the division.

The weekend’s opposition have suffered only one defeat since October and will offer a much sterner challenge to the Lions than that of recent matches.

RBL’s last match saw them take the short trip down the road on Tuesday night to the Don Amott Arena, where they faced Mickleover FC Reserves. The hosts took the lead and were the better team in the first half. RBL came out in the second half and were more attacking and played higher up the pitch. The boys were rewarded with an early response through Owen Brader. RBL were now in charge of the match and went in front through Lee Hillier. Sports equalised before Lee Fell scored in injury time to take the points for RBL.

In their last match, Derby Singh Brothers struck out for the second game in a row as they drew 0-0 with Cromford & Wirksworth Town last weekend. This followed a 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham FC, their first defeat since October last year. A point from their last available six may represent the start of a drop in form for the hosts. The Singh Brothers will be keen to arrest this slight dip in form and get back to their previous levels, which have seen the team rise up the table, currently occupying eighth spot with games in hand on the teams above them.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

The two sides last met in a preseason friendly last summer at Derby Rolls Royce. RBL ran away 3-1 winners in what was little more than a training session for both sides.

With both sides in a good run of form, hopefully, the match this time around will be an exciting encounter, with plenty of quality from both sides.
