PREVIEW | DERBY SINGH BROTHERS (h)
LIONS HOPE TO NOT LOOK LIKE FOOLS ON APRIL THE FIRST
This weekend sees RBL welcome Derby Singh Brothers to the Royal British Legion. Manager Garry Smith could have been forgiven for seeing the date and naming himself and assistant, Jeff on today’s teamsheet, but it would’ve been too obviously an April Fools joke.
Having not played for two weeks due to subsequent matches being called off due to waterlogging, it was touch and go again this week as the weather threatened to disrupt the fixture again this weekend.
In their last match, RBL went down 3-2 at home to neighbours, Mickleover Reserves. Goals from captain John Cullen and Lee Fell were not enough to take the points against a young Mickleover Reserves team. The result hit the Lions’ title challenge hard, and they will want to put it behind them as soon as possible, with the match at South Normanton being a great opportunity to get back on track.
The visitors have found some form recently, with two away wins in a row and no goals conceded. Their last match was a trip to Linby Colliery welfare, where goals from Darnell Smith and Jagjeet Dhillon took all three points and moved the team into sixth spot in the league.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
The two sides met just four weeks ago at Derby Rolls Royce. Goals for RBL from Jordy Lee and Lee Hillier were matched by goals from Lvarn Brandy and Tirhys Davidson for the match to end with the score at 2-2
ONTO THIS WEEKEND
With RBL needing to get back on track, and the Singh Brothers wanting to continue their impressive recent form, a good game is in prospect at the legion.
The bar will be open and the match kicks off at 3pm.
See you there
