PREVIEW | ELITE AFC (h)
RBL AIM FOR BACK TO BACK CUP WINS
UP NEXT, after reaching the final of the County Cup last Saturday, Mickleover RBL are again in cup action as they host Elite AFC, who sit fourth in Premier Division North and are sure to offer stern opposition today.
With two wins in a row, RBL will hope to continue this form into todays’ must win game against a team who they have not faced before and do not know much about. With RBL defending their crown as cup holders, they will be keen to put on a good show.
To reach this round of the cup, RBL thrashed Bakewell Town 8-1 at the legion, way back in October. Goals from Jordan Hicking, Jordy Lee (3), Emilio De Abreu (2), Dean Oliver and Sam Vickers wrapped up an easy passage into the third round.
Elite AFC come to the legion in great form, having won their last three matches in the league comfortably. In order to reach this round of the cup, Elite had a second round tie that was equally straightforward as RBL’s, as they beat Bessacarr 5-0 at home to set up today's match.
Mickleover RBL’s last match saw them welcome Holbrook St Michaels to the legion for a Derbyshire County Divisional Cup South Semi Final. With more than a little rivalry sprinkled in for good measure a tough match was in prospect. Ryan Morgan opened the scoring just before half time, only for Holbrook to draw level just twelve minutes after the restart. With fifteen to go, Lee Hillier ensured passage into the final as he scored to make it 2-1.
Elite’s last match saw them travel to AFC Phoenix, winning 3-1.
