PREVIEW | BAKEWELL TOWN(h)
LIONS BACK IN ACTION IN THE CUP AFTER LAST WEEK’S WASHOUT
UP NEXT, Mickleover RBL are at the legion yet again, as they welcome Bakewell Town for round two of their defence of the Buckingham Insurance League Challenge Cup.
With the away match against Wirksworth Ivanhoe last weekend called off due to flooding after Storm Babet, RBL are now playing their eleventh home match out of fourteen so far for the season.
With five wins in a row, and a +13 goal difference with three clean sheets in their last three matches, the Lions will go into the match high on confidence, but cautious. They face a Bakewell side who have lost just once this season, although they have played the least matches in the league so far.
In their last match, two weeks ago, RBL hosted Holbrook St Michaels, who are so far without a point in the league. After a goalless first half, Ryan Ross, Lee Hillier and Emilieo De Abreu found the back of the net to keep RBL top of the league with a 3-0 win.
On the same day, Bakewell Town visited AFC Normanton, who, after a great start to the season, have been inconsistent over recent weeks. Just like the match taking place at the legion, the score at Normanton was goalless at half time. Substitutes Caleb Fletcher and Leighton Bowering both found the net to give Bakewell a 2-0 victory.
A LITTLE ABOUT THIS WEEKEND'S OPPOSITION
Bakewell Town FC were founded in 1883 at The Midland Hotel in Derby. Flash forward 137 years and Bakewell Town FC are still going strong, driven by one beating heart, the Bakewell community.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS
While the two teams haven’t met, RBL Reserves met Bakewell Development almost two years ago in the Midland Regional Alliance Challenge Cup. RBL came away with a 3-1 victory as Matt Green, Owen Nixon and Jordan Lowe found the net, with Kyle Shimwell scoring Bakewell’s only goal of the game.
