A SUMMARY OF THE ACTION FROM THE YOUTH SECTIONS

SATURDAY the 16th of March

Under 18 Lions

The under 18’s match was postponed after the referee decided that the pitch was unplayable, which was later played on in the afternoon in the seniors fixture.

Under 17 Lions

The under 17’s travelled to Nuneaton to face Atherstone for the second time this season. In a match that lacked quality, RBL went two goals up through Alfie Brearley and Luca Tacchi. The hosts came back with two goals of their own before Brearley and Tacchi scored again to make it 4-2 at full time in an ill-tempered affair.

Under 13 Lions

The under 13’s travelled to Banbury, where they had a competitive match, but fell a little short, losing the match 4-2. RBL goals came from Dan Czechowski and Jude Baker. Man of the match was shared between Ashton Ozols and Harvey Oakes.

The game started brightly for both sides, and RBL took the lead with a cool penalty from Brown, 1-0 RBL. RBL doubled their lead with a daisy cutter of a shot from Wall, 2-0 RBL at half time.

A third was added midway through the second half with Comrie scrambling the ball into the net from a Brown corner. Belvedere got a consolation goal via a penalty. 3-1 full-time. Man of the match was Mahal with a solid performance at right back.

Under 10 Vipers

Under 10 Ultras

The under 10 Ultras faced Chellaston Chargers in the semi final of the cup. Having a bare minimum of seven players, we had to play River, who’s been sick all weekend. Things didn’t look good. However, the game went into penalties and RBL progressed to the final

Man of the match was Finn Taylor-Dawes in goal.

Under 9 Lions

The under 9’s had a tough game yesterday morning at the HUB. The Lions played some great passing football in the first half and scored a fine team goal which was finished off by Cayson.

The second half wasn’t quite the same and Melbourne made things very tough and deservedly got an equaliser early on in the half. However, Oliver scored a good goal and that was enough to see the boys through. Well done Lions

Man of the match was Ronnie Ruston. He showed superb vision, had loads of energy and generally played great

Under 7 Lions

The under 7’s Lions had a very competitive game yesterday morning against Duffield Dynamos. The boys played well in spells and did enough to see the game out.
Man of the match was Luke Forsyth, who was unlucky not to score, he hit the post 3 times, which didn’t take away from a great performance for him. Showing really good skills using both feet as well.

Under 7 Tigers

The under 7’s Tigers played a very physical Shelton Jaguars. The boys battled well against them and there was some great passing on display. We came out the happier of the teams, with our Man of the match going to hat trick hero Lucas Wickes. It was great to see him back on the scoresheet and will do his confidence a world of good.
