A SUMMARY OF THE ACTION FROM THE YOUTH SECTIONS

SATURDAY the 6th of April

Under 18 Lions

The under 18’s were the away side in a league meeting with our very own under 17’s. A dominant performance saw the u18’s run out easy winners. Goals from James Stafford, Spencer Bailey, Harry Banks and Conor Livingstone completed the 4-0 victory.

Under 17 Lions

The under 17’s “hosted” the under 18’s in the MJPL. They struggled to cope with the quality of the under 18’s and after a close opening ten minutes, were under the cosh for the majority of the game. Both sides enjoyed an interesting performance from the referee, with some fines having to be paid for some ridiculous yellow card decisions. This, however, did not have an impact on the 4-0 defeat to a superior team.

Under 13 Lions

The under 13’s lost 1-0 to Boldmere away in a slight wind…. It was the same score at half time, the boys just couldn’t put the ball in the onion bag. Man of the match was Matthew Gallagher

Under 12 Lions

The under 12’s had no fixture

Under 10 Lions

The under 10’s faced Chellaston Chargers and played out of their socks. A very comfortable win and the score line could have at least been double with Man of the match going to Seb Rooney.

SUNDAY the 7th of April

Under 18 Lions

The under 18’s match was postponed

Under 17 Panthers

The under 17's match was postponed

Under 16 Jaguars

The under 16’s took on Barton Rovers in very difficult weather conditions. This wasn’t a game for the purists. It was definitely about just getting the result. Eventually, RBL won the game 2-1 as two goals from Sam Leonard secured the win. Man of the match was shared between Addison Smith and Ryan Santini as both gave really solid defensive performances.

Under 15 Tigers

The under 15’s had no fixture

Under 13 Lions

The under 13's lost 3-1 to Chesapeake. 2-0 down at half time and then got it back to 2-1, game on. Same for both sides but slightly blustery. Man of the match went to Rupert Brocklebank

Under 12 Lions

The under 12’s continued their excellent league form to make it four out of four wins with a 7-1 victory over Chesapeake Blue Skins. Man of the match was Archie Gage.

Under 10 Vipers

The under 10 Vipers gave a much better effort this week against Etwall from the last time they played against them. A hard fought game that saw RBL take the lead, but unfortunately struggled to sustain the high performance and ended up with a loss. The boys are still learning to adapt to L1 but steady improvements so far.

Under 10 Ultras

The under 10 Ultras played Aston village in the DJFL. Outstanding performance from everyone, winning the match. Man of the match was Jacob Ford

Under 9 Lions

The under 9’s had a game at the HUB in difficult, blustery conditions.
The boys played some great football in stages and missed quite a few chances in the first half to go in 0-0 at half time. Belper however used the wind advantage brilliantly in the second half and played some good football themselves and went into a commanding lead. Cayson scored a consolation goal and was unlucky not to add a second shortly afterwards hitting the post.

Man of the match was Oscar Jones, who had a great game

Under 7 Lions

The under 7’s Lions had a good win, with some fantastic football played by the boys, coming from behind to win. Man of the match went to Piers Baldwin who played in goals having never done so before. He played brilliantly, making some great saves.

Under 7 Tigers

The under 7’s Tigers had a fantastic performance, beating a team who haven’t lost many this season, certainly showing team work, hard graft and commitment. Really proud of all of them and their attitudes after the game shaking hands with the opposition who refused to do so. Winning the game. Man of the match was defender Harrison Green.
